XSCENE-0X

 He got no time to think about it and now all of a sudden he's sitting in front of what looks like a regular bank employee. Is he dreaming? Although considering the room he was in, it looked like any other government office but there was something strange about the place. After a few quick glances here and there, he found himself staring at that employee again. It wasn't just the place that looked strange. The guy himself had a weird air. And suddenly he spoke which startled 2 -

1 - What?

2 - So this is it?

1 - What do you think?

2 - Why do I believe you?

1 - What choice do you have?

2 - This has to be a joke....look I don't know who are you or however you brought me here but I think there has been a serious misunderstanding. Please let me go I'll give you whatever you want!

1 - Go where?

2 - To my-

1 - It was a rhetorical question. You can't.

2 - (Gets up from the seat, slams his hand on the table - SHOUTS) Why!!

1 - I already told you.(2 leans back, looks up - cries quietly - deep down he had this feeling that 1 isn't lying)

2 - Why! But- please... please, please let me go (Sobbing continues- There are no tears.)

1 - Look there's nothing that you or I can do to change what has happened. I'm sorry.

2 - But why me? I don't even remember how- even when it happened!

1 - You don't?

2 - No..

1 - hmm that's interesting...

2 - and besides, it's so...so...ordinary.

1 - What do you mean "ordinary"? You want a prize?

2 - No

1 - What then?

2 - Well it's just that...I mean...we are told- they say it's beautiful or peaceful or even gore and scary and and what not! This place isn't exactly what I was expecting.

1 - Well you are not there yet. Here, sign this and you'll be officially off the Contact. And let me tell you one thing, I don't know whether it will be what you expected but trust me it'll be worth it when you get there.

2 - Wait what? What do you mean by that? Am I- am I not dead yet?

1 - Of course you are of course. It's just not official yet. You sign here and then you'll be officially dead alright? No need to worry.

(2 is not sure how to respond to that and let alone respond he isn't aware as to how to take it)

2 - What do you mean when you say 'officially dead'?

1 - Look just sign here and you'll be dead and to be clear- the death you were talking about!

2 - So, this document, what happens after I sign it? Will it be painful?

1 - You will know soon enough. Sign.

(1 passes him the pen and slides the document towards him)

2 - (about to sign, stops, hesitates, asks eventually) And like- what if I don't sign it? I won't die?

1 - Nope you are pretty much dead.

2 - So if I don't sign the docum-

1- You don't have a choice man just get on with it.

2 - What do you mean I don't have a choice?! Will you force me or something, torture me into signing it? Or kill me?(nervous laugh)

1 - Well as you are already off your mortal structure, I can't kill or torture you. I won't force you either. But you don't have no other choice.

2 - NO! You are wrong. I do have a choice. What if I stay here. Yeah, I don't need to go anywhere.

1 - I'd still say you don't have a choice. But let me ask this to you anyway, do you really want to stay here?

(Pause)

2 (thinking-stares)

1 - Yeah, that's what I thought. Come on now, sign here.

2- Fuck it! I'll stay here! I'll stay here for my whole li- for- for- forever! Yeah! I'll stay here forever until you give me a proper explanation to what the shit is going on!

1 - Alright. Let me tell you something about this place. This place is not what it looks like. I'm not what I look like. In fact, you are not what you look like! Nah I'm just messing with you. You are what you look like. And when you say forever- it is forever here. You can stay here for years and it might not even be a second out there and even a second here is centuries over there. Time do not work here as it does over there. So when you say forever, it will be forever and it won't even be a fraction of a second simultaneously. So you can say that I'm dealing with millions of you who died with you and I'm dealing with you at the same time and in no time at all. I can take you a 1000 years ahead right now and I can keep you here for a 1000 years in a second. My point is that it does not matter however long you stay here, you get it?

(This was a lot to take in for 2 - SILENCE)

1 - But tell me what is not clear to you. What answers do you want?

2 - (eventually) I- I don't understand why aren't you telling me what will happen after I sign this document?

1 - I- You- why d- because- because I can't ALRIGHT! Because I don't know it myself.

2 - WHAT?!

1 - You heard me. I'm not as fortunate as you are. I don't get to- I-

(pause)

2 - (wasn't sure what to say) So...how long have you been here?

1 - (stares at 2) Weren't you listening? I am here from forever and I'll be here forever more.

2 - Well then I guess I'll be here forever as well. I won't go anywhere. I'll be right- right here.

1 - Alright suit yourself. There's no food, no water. But it doesn't matter because you won't feel hungry or thirsty. You won't feel hot or cold, you can cry but there will be no tears, you can't sleep. Lights always stay on. And you are not the first one to try it. Have a wonderful stay!

2 - (Scared, but asks the obvious) Is this all supposed to scare me?

1 - I was just making you familiar with the settings. Besides, I already know that you are scared...

P.S. :- Upcoming blog won't be in the script format. I used it for better character clarity and to establish Scene 0. Character names didn't seemed like any immediate necessity so I went ahead with 1 and 2.
